Long before anyone was talking about artificial intelligence, I was working in what I used to call bleeding-edge technology.
At BellSouth Wireless Data, we were introducing wireless data and mobile software at a time when most businesses were still trying to understand why anyone would need information outside the office.
I’ve Seen This Moment Before
The Technology Was Never the Hardest Part.
I helped build BellSouth Wireless Data’s presence in Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia. We were selling into major corporations and federal agencies, working with technology that was new, expensive, imperfect, and changing fast.
The challenge was not simply explaining the technology. The real challenge was helping people understand where it belonged in the business, how it could improve the way work got done, and how to turn possibility into something operational.
Today, I see the same thing happening again.
AI is new. But the problem of turning new technology into a working business system is not.
